BEFORE The Treatment

AFTER The Treatment

  • Avoid consuming aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications like Ibuprofen, Advil®, Motrin®, Aleve®, Celebrex®, fish oil, Ginko Biloba, St. John’s Wort, and high doses of Vitamin E for 7-10 days before the procedure, as these can increase the risk of bleeding and bruising at the treatment sites. However, regular multivitamins and Tylenol® are generally acceptable unless you have been instructed otherwise or are aware that you cannot take Tylenol due to contraindications.
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before the procedure to minimise the risk of bleeding and bruising at the treatment site(s).
  • Refrain from waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or using hair removal creams in the areas scheduled for treatment.
  • Take Tylenol® unless contraindicated 1hour before your appointment if you anticipate discomfort.
  • If you have a history of Herpes Simplex (cold sores) on your face, notify us at least a week before you come to the appointment. This allows sufficient time for prescribing medication to prevent an outbreak.
  • Avoid sunburn by minimising exposure to the sun, as sunburned skin can be challenging to treat.
  • Consume a small meal or snack before your appointment.
  • Always disclose to your doctor all medications, including supplements, and your complete medical history.

  • You can apply makeup immediately after your treatment. However, avoid facials and saunas on the day of your treatment.
  • Make an effort to use the injected muscles within the first 1-2 hours after treatment, such as frowning, raising your eyebrows, and squinting. This helps distribute Botox® into your muscles. While this practice is beneficial, forgetting to do so won’t negatively affect your treatment.
  • The full effects of your treatment may take up to 14 days to become noticeable. Some patients may observe changes within 4-5 days. It requires time for muscles to weaken and lines to diminish after Botox® treatment. Wait until 14 days have passed before evaluating your satisfaction with the results.
  • Refrain from touching or rubbing the injected site for 2-4 hours after treatment. Avoid exercising and sweating for the remainder of the day, and avoid lying down or leaning forward for 2-4 hours post-treatment.
  • Temporary bruising at the treated site may occur, but it usually resolves within a few hours. Any small bumps or marks should disappear shortly after treatment.
  • Avoid facial procedures such as microdermabrasion or massages for 14 days after treatment.
  • If experiencing discomfort, avoid Ibuprofen, Advil, or Motrin; instead, Tylenol is acceptable unless contraindicated.
  • Botox® Cosmetic is temporary, with initial results lasting approximately 3-4 months. Consistent treatment appointments as recommended by your clinician may prolong the duration of each treatment’s effects beyond 4 months.
